like we’ve reached the point in meme culture where memes are no longer able to burn themselves out naturally. corporations and their desire to connect with the younger generation (so as to appeal to a new, more broad demographic) cause a forced, near immediate, and conscious change in what we as a culture find funny. we don’t get to say shit is “so one week ago”, we don’t have that luxury anymore. instead we get to say “you see that joke you just made? denny’s desperate old man conglomerate fucking ruined it”
